On a roll in Lapeer!
What a great day at the USDAA trial in Lapeer, Michigan. My dad & I drove down just for today. I ended up running 18 courses between 6 courses & 3 dogs!
This is my second trial in working towards the 2014 Cynosport World Games. The dogs & I were really working well together. It was a venue I’d never been to before and the footing took a while to get used to as well.
Grand Slam, Funkee Monkee & Slyce qualified in both the Grand Prix & Steeplechase courses today 🙂 – this completes the Qs needed in order to compete at Cynosport! I was also lucky enough to win GP with all 3 dogs earning byes in to the semi finals at a Regional Championships. Got a few Master Standard & Master Challenge Jumper & Standard Q’s as well.
I’ve been working hard on Funkee’s dog walk and I’m happy to report she drove really hard to her target & waited for release in every course. She had been getting a little pumped in the past & running her dog walk when asked to stop. I’ve trained both a running & stop on Funkee & Slyce. I haven’t found the need to use the running on many courses though. When given the choice – fun would rather run then stop! Shocking eh? Haha. She listened well & was a good girlie all day. I also really tested Slams weave entries & exits today & he handled all challenges without issue.
I’m looking forward to getting home to bed! It will be a great after a long drive & a busy day!
