Gold is my new favourite Colour!!
Currently writing this on my phone from my very own bed (which feels like a cloud btw)
After 26 hours of traveling, the girls and I are finally home. It was so nice to see my parents & Ken again, not to mention my other dogs (my puppy grew so much!)
I have so much unpacking & video unloading to do – I was fortunate to have some awesome people video my runs while I was away (thanks to those who helped with that!) I will post those videos & update my website once I get more settled.
I don’t think I will come down from this high anytime soon. Between Slyce & Funkee Monkee, I ran 20 courses this past weekend at the WAO World Championships and I ran 15 of them with clear rounds. I came home with 14 ribbons including 4 GOLD medals 🙂
This event is so much harder to achieve medals at. The Pentathlon consists of 2 Standards, 2 jumpers & 1 sweepstakes (finals), the Biathlon consists of 1 jumpers & 1 standard, the Games consists of 1 Snooker & 1 Gamblers and Team Pentathlon consists of 2 Standards, 2 jumpers & 1 4-dog relay.
Slyce had her last run on the international stage as she is 11 and I couldn’t have asked for a better weekend from her. That dog has one of the biggest hearts I know & is so special to me. She has taken me all over the world and has won the most gold medals of all my dogs! At this event last year, she won the Silver in the Pentathlon. This year 2013 – We finished by winning the overall GOLD medal in the Games Biathlon. It was a pretty surreal moment coming out of the ring with her- knowing that was our last international run & also knowing she won GOLD. Gives me goosebumps thinking about it!!!
Funkee Monkee – where so I begin? My little black beauty gave me everything she had this weekend. Getting to spend some one on one time while away really helped our connection & allowed us to really rely on our team work. I trusted her to do her job and knew my job was to RUN!!! Fun ran 10 clean out of 13 and ended up winning GOLD in every Individual class offered. Pentathlon (5 runs) Biathlon (2 runs) and Games (2 runs).
2013 World Champion – Slyce and 3x World Champion – Funkee Monkee.
Hard work, good training & handling, mental preparation & a little luck is the perfect combo for a weekend that I will never forget! Hope to try again in Italy 2014!!!
Now back to my cloud….. 😉
