Cynosport Blog #1 – Nashville Birthday Bash
The big date has arrived….. my 30th birthday. Can’t say that I’m very excited about it, but I think the upset will be washed away by spending it in NASHVILLE, TENNESSEE!
I’ve now arrived in Nashville for the USDAA Cynosport World Games. I qualified Slyce, Funkee Monkee & Grand Slam to compete at this event. It should be a busy week running 3 dogs! I was lucky enough to qualify them for all 4 events – DAM Team, Steeplechase, Grand Prix & also the new Challenge Biathlon.
It’s possible that this will be Slyce’s last event running at 22″. She is 11.5 years old & has had such a long successful career. I’m struggling with the decision because she is still running so well. She is still posting very competitive times on course. Maybe the decision will be easier after this event is over. This is also Grand Slams first time competing at such a big event. This is his 5th trial & I’m really interested to see how things play out for us. I have been training him a lot, but we don’t have a ton of ring experience yet. We shall see 🙂
Ken & I have traveled down in a beautiful RV that our amazing friends have let us borrow. This is our first long trip in the RV & I’m hoping it will give us an idea of what we’d like when we purchase our own. I do know already that the dogs are loving this style of travel 🙂
We’ve arrived a few days early so we can get settled & enjoy this amazing town. We’ve relaxed by the campfire, visited the Dukes or Hazzard (for Ken of course), had an amazing experience at the Grand Ol Opry, took a trolley tour of the city, listened to some honky tonk country music & had some great food!!!!! I love Nashville & will absolutely come back!
Yesterday was the best part of my birthday celebration though – we rented a pedal tavern (a large bar which sits on a 16 passenger bike) and rode through the city of Nashville. We bar hopped, played flip cup, gave high-speed high fives, sang a few song & of course had just a “couple” beers. It was SO much fun. What a great idea & a super fun way to spend time with friends. I finished the night with an amazing gift from my amazing BF Ken, a personal music video that he sang & produced himself & a trip to VEGAS! I’m so spoiled. I am surrounded by some amazing people & I feel pretty lucky to have what I have – even though I’m now 30 😛
Tomorrow 6:30am course walk through – here’s hoping I’m awake enough to walk the course! 🙂
Cheers to a great week to come!
