AAC Western Ont Regional Championships – FUN!
Finally home & unpacked from the weekend where I competed at the AAC Ontario Western Regional Championships. I handled 3 dogs this year which I haven’t done in a while! The event was very well organized & ran very smoothly.
Overall I had a pretty successful weekend. All 3 dogs made their qualifications needed to compete at the Nationals held in Edmonton in August. All 3 dogs also made top 10 🙂
Funkee had a few great runs, but the heat really got to her. Poor little black thing gets so hot. We had a few bars this weekend which is SO UNUSUAL! She isn’t really a bar knocker and those few faults took us to 3rd place in the 16″ regular division.
Slyce & I had a great weekend. She won Jumpers & Gamblers with 2 smokin runs. She was one of the few dogs to get the dreaded Gamble on Saturday. I had an unfortunate handling error in the last course which bumped us from the top to 4th place in the 22″ Regular Division. Still – for 11 years old – pretty awesome.
Baby Grand Slam – Such a good boy. I have spent so much time training this dog & his skills are very well developed already, but what we don’t have is ring experience. I have to remind myself of that when I step in the ring with him. When we train – we are normally on the same page – but this was only our 3rd trial together. He did very well for a young dog. We had some great gambles classes & only 1 bar in both jumpers, 1 bar in standard 1 and a refusal in Standard 2. No off Courses & his running contacts were solid all weekend 😉 Slam placed 10th overall in the 22″ Regular Division.
I also want to take a second to congratulate all my students that competed this past weekend. I am so proud of everyone for competing at this level & doing a great job at it. Congrats to Bronwynn, Kris & Terri for winning their divisions!!! And so many more placed Overall & individually in the classes. You guys work so hard & make teaching so much fun for me. I enjoyed watching you guys compete. I hope you guys had a good experience & will enter next year as well.
Thanks to my parents, Vince & Gail, Ange & Mike and Kubby for making the camping experience a fun one! Those bonfires were a blast!!
The Purple People done good!
